- Cream & Combine:
- Cream the butter and brown sugar together.
- Add the flour and mix.
- Set aside 1/2 cup of the mixture for topping.
- Finish the Batter: Add the egg, buttermilk, baking soda, a pinch of salt, and vanilla to the remaining mixture and stir.
- Pan It: Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 pan.
- Top It: Sprinkle the reserved 1/2 cup mixture over the top.
- Bake: Bake at 375°F for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool: Let cool before serving.
